Water Wise Gardening Workshop - April 3, 2021
Presenters: Susan VanSteenkist and Cheryl Kauk
Every year is different in the Sierra foothills! This year is no exception with a relatively dry winter thus far. Previous years of drought have taught us that water is a very precious resource. Water wise gardening can reduce your water needs by choosing low water plants and techniques for promoting water retention in your soil. This workshop will focus on water wise management of the home garden, including:
- Methods to improve soil to increase water holding capacity, and decrease evaporation;
- Learn how to determine what water requirements are for certain plants;
- Information on planning your garden to group plants with similar water needs together;
- Use of efficient watering systems to decrease weeds.
